The Partnership on University Plagiarism Prevention (PUPP) will host a Conference at the Université du Québec en Outaouais in Gatineau-Ottawa (Canada), from 21 to 24 May 2024. The conference will bring together international researchers of academic integrity to explore the theme “Plagiarism prevention, and pedagogy in a new digital era.”
Today’s university students and professors face dynamic challenges, including the rapid evolution of generative artificial intelligence that is influencing how academic integrity is (re)defined. More than ever before, undergraduate students are required to develop a myriad of meta and cognitive strategies to produce high quality work to achieve their educational and professional goals. Best positioned to teach these strategies are university professors, while promoting a culture of academic integrity as an integral component of higher education. Through the development of fair academic integrity policies, the design of creative learning outcomes and activities, and the provision of differentiated support services, a shift in paradigm is emerging from plagiarism detection to prevention. Successful perspective changes require the ongoing involvement of both scholars and practitioners to reflect on current practices and develop meaningful strategies across higher education institutions, in a multidisciplinary and international dialogue. The PUPP Conference will explore and celebrate the highest standards in academic integrity research and plagiarism prevention initiatives.
The PUPP Conference Planning Committee is currently accepting proposals for individual and group presentations. We invite submissions in English or French from faculty members, librarians, support staff, administrators, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. Presentation topics should relate to the conference 3Ps: Plagiarism, Prevention, Pedagogy.
Proposals will be considered for the following formats
- Single Presenter or group – Lightning Talk (15 minutes total)
- Single Presenter or group – Full paper presentation (30 minutes total)
- Multiple Presenters – Roundtable (5-10 speakers, 90 minutes total)
