Chicago 2023 PUPP Summer School – Keynote Speaker Tricia Bertram Gallant

Tricia Bertram Gallant is the Director of the UC San Diego Academic Integrity Office & Triton Testing Center, Board Emeritus of the International Center for Academic Integrity, and has been an ethics lecturer with UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management. Author of numerous journal articles, book chapters, books, blog article, she is a very proactive researcher in the academic integrity field. You can look at her full CV on UC San Diego’s website. For the Keynote Speech for the Chicago 2023 Summer School, Tricia is proposing to us:

Teaching & Learning With and For Integrity

Teaching and learning in the twenty-first century is complicated. We feel the influence of the massification of higher education, the rise of artificial intelligence, and the growth in the contract cheating industry. Large classes, rote engagement (or actual disengagement), academic decisions driven by bottom line rather than pedagogy, and a resulting lack of integrity in our assessments. Faculty and students feel overwhelmed and, at times, like adversaries. Through asking deep questions and telling vivid stories, Dr. Tricia Bertram Gallant invites us to pause, reflect and remember the opportunities that we have to teach and learn with integrity, as well as develop integrity in ourselves and others before, during and after integrity breaches.
